Press Release: Mastio & Company publishes the Second Edition Power Marketer Customer Value and Benchmarking Report

ST. JOSEPH, MO, January 4, 2005

The industry-wide study was released to corporate subscribers in October 2004, two years after the first edition was published in 2002. The Second Edition study includes customer perceptions of 43 power marketers, electric coops, and government utilities across 25 attributes – making the Second Edition the most complete study ever published for modeling customers’ supplier choice models.

The 2004 study is based on interviews with municipal utilities, investor owned utilities, cooperative utilities, independent power producers, and marketers. Each respondent rated power providers on 25 customer satisfaction attributes such as: quality of relationship, integrity, frequent and open communication; knowledge of personnel, credit rating of supplier, plus overall company performance and how likely would you be to recommend your power marketer. The study also asks several open-ended questions such as, “Besides price, what is the most important factor that you use to select one power marketer over another”.

Mastio & Company, for the first time, included an additional set of indexes called the Customer Value Index. These indexes show the overall Customer Value score that each company achieved – a relative measure calculated by each supplier’s scores across the attributes measured, multiplied by each attributes weight, and normalized into index format.
